Will the resurrected marry/have children?
by davidmitchell ini have just finished reading 'brock talon's' two books.
in one of them, entitled journey to god's house, pub.
he comments on how the wt's pictures of the post-armageddon world do not agree with their doctrines, namely that those who are physically resurrected will not marry/have children.

Recent talks have outlined that this passage was talking about the anointed and not those resurrected on Earth, so this does not apply anymore. -

The Watchtower's cash flow problems and financial solvency with lawsuits payouts
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think with all this change we see occurring with the watchtower corporation's to deal with things means they are in financial trouble and are seeking to consolidate their real estate holdings for easy sale if needed to stay financially solvent.. they will stop or slowly decrease the door to door work and focus on the material potential of each member young and old for what ever they can get out of them.
this will lead to more leaving under their tyranny.

It's my understanding they have insurance for lawsuits also. -

I know people who have left the Witnesses and they're lives are in shambles. They needed structure and without it they are lost. I know people who have left and they are fine. Strictly speaking from my own extended family: all the ones that have left are all screwed up. -

Divine Name in the First Century
by freemindfade induring the watchtower today while there was so much pontificating on the first century christian movement, i was wondering what would happen i asked your run of the mill r&f how paul and others would have been pronouncing the divine name?....
yes god's name, something witnesses claim was so critical.
but the absolute fact of the matter is that no christian was saying the name jehovah at all, period.

I fail to see your point. The accepted name for God in the modern world is Jehovah. Even people who believe in the Trinity will admit that. The original name of God in the Old Testament is YHWH. Add a few consonants and you get Jehovah. This is how language is created. People in the 1st Century and people in the 21st Century obviously wouldn't be using the same pronunciation.

Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

There are a lot of people with a lot of hate in their heart. I'm not sure why that is. Some need to lash out and convince themselves JW's are somehow harmful and a cult and every evil connotation hey can think of.
That's a lot easier than taking ownership of one's own decisions they make in their life. It's a lot easier if all your problems are someone else's fault. At least that what I experience and witness in many posts.

Most JW's know the GB has no idea when the end is coming, and let's be honest the GB keep saying they don't know when the end is coming and they're just going to go on doing what they do until the end comes. I've heard that a dozen times. It irks me when I hear the GB say: we don't know when the end is coming. And then a brother gives a prayer saying: we're in the last seconds of the end. Ah, I've been hearing that for 40 years now. Perhaps you might not want to say that in your prayer even if you're right.
And there are a lot more thinking people than most care to believe. I think Generation X and the Millennial generation witnesses are a lot more pragmatic than all the old timers who hang on every word of the GB or anyone from Bethel. Generation X and Millennial Gen witness think the GB is out of touch. Most do anyway.

Memorial on Good Friday?
by ShirleyW injust found out the memorial is this coming friday, which is good friday, don't recall that happening before, or has it?.
just seems strange that the dubs would celebrate their only special day on the same day that christendom celebrates as well..

Yeap, it has to do when Nisan 14 falls whatever time period that happens on. If it happens on Good Friday that means nothing. The date is the date and that's when they do it. -

All the changes

it is turning into something that feels impersonal.
i know change is good.

What happens is that there is life at Bethel, which is not how 99.9 percent of JW's live, and then there is the rest of the organization who has to live in the realities of the real world.
At Bethel they live isolated and can't see the forest for the trees at times. In the congregation you have to deal with ten-thousand things; and things like JW.TV and the cart song and new songs and all this other stuff and changing everything around seems kind of like weird reality #795 and not something that is so very important.
